The one-day event “European Funding Opportunities for competitiveness and innovation in the Danube Region” took place on 11th December 2013 in Stuttgart, Germany.
Starting in 2014, a new period of European funding commences with the European Commission’s Directorates-General InfoRegio (Regional Policy), Enterprise and Industry and Research and Innovation launching new calls offering new opportunities for transnational cooperation. The first calls for proposals was published in December 2013. The European Commission stresses the importance of identifying and making use of synergies between the different programmes.
This event in Stuttgart, which was carried out by the PACS “Support of the competitiveness of enterprises, including cluster development” and organized by the Steinbeis-Europe-Centre, was a first chance for participants to find out about different programmes and their content, what particular programmes are available to support transnational cooperation between SMEs, academia and stakeholders from the Danube Region as well as offering a platform for first meetings between participants in establishing partnerships.
The European Funding Opportunities includes
– Horizon 2020 (Research and Innovation)
– The new COSME programme and its benefits for business creation and growth and internationalisation and finance support for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs)
– The new INTERREG funding period in which projects for overcoming challenges specific to the Danube Macroregion will be supported.
