In times of multiple challenges it is important to support the Danube Region’s competitiveness to equip the danube economies for the future. Some of those challenges are for example the realization of the green and digital transformation or the shortage of skilled workers.

Even though the regions pursue different strategies to address the situation in the best way, they are united in their goal: a competitive Danube region. Some regions already developed successful approaches, best cases, which can be helpful as an inspiration for other regions along the Danube. This is why the Priority Area 8 brings together best practice cases from all 14 EUSDR regions here on this website to support the regions on their way towards green and digital economies with enough skilled workers. The region’s variety of expertise from different areas is unique and together common solution approaches can be developed.

The best practice cases can be used as an inspiration, as an invite to exchange ideas and contacts with each other, or to present own best practice cases. If you developed a successful best case in the Danube Region, we’re looking forward to hear from your idea, to share it with other regions.

For more in-depth working with other regions in the EUSDR you can join one of our Working Groups, focusing on specific topics, that develop studies, policy paper and solutions.

Bioeconomy

Bioeconomy is an area with great potential for growth: fossil energies can by replaced by plant biomass, an effective CO2 reduction can be reached by  observing the entire circular economy. Important raw materials can be recovered from plants, waste, wastewater or even exhaust air through biological, biotechnological, bioinspired processes. Therefore dependency on import from other regions and long transport routes can be eliminiated by the regional availability of raw materials.
