Support of sustainable entrepreneurship in the Republic of Moldova

The Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism with its coordination of Priority Area 8 of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region were involved in promoting a project focussing on sustainable entrepreneurship in the Republic of Moldova.

The project is funded by the State Parliament and State Ministry of Baden-Württemberg from the EUSDR Project Fund. It will be implemented by VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH in close cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Digitalization of the Government of Moldova. VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH associated with Dr. Gerd Meier zu Köcker coordinates the Priority Area 8 Working Group on Clusters and Regional Development.

The primary goals are as follows: First, to raise awareness among partners, particulary SMEs and intermediaries in the Republic of Moldova. Second, to enhance collaboration with key sectors, including agriculture, textiles, and machinery. Third, to identify and optimize central supply chains. Fourth, to empower local clusters and intermediaries through targeted training programs.

The project will be implemented through three successive work packages that build on each other, thereby progressively improving awareness and capacity building for SMEs and intermediaries in the Republic of Moldova. The emphasis will be on creating self-assesment tools and providing strategic support to pioneering companies within the sustainability sector. Hence, the project not only supports the broader transformation towards a sustainable economy but also ensures that Moldovan SMEs remain competitive in the European market by adhering tot he reporting requirements stipulated by various EU directives. As such, this initiative represents a vital step towards achieving the overarching goals of the European Green Deal and enhancing the sustainability of the Moldovan region.

Priority Area 8 is certain that this project will bring benefits toward the Republic of Moldova and the Danube Region.
