Dear Members of the new EUSDR PA8 Working group Circular Bioeconomy – to support the Competitiveness of SMEs,

We are delighted to invite you to the first online event of our new event series known as “Sharing knowledge about …”. The first event is dedicated to the topic of insect biorefineries, and gives you the opportunity to delve into the cutting-edge research and innovative applications of insect biorefineries. The event offers valuable knowledge, and aims to foster collaboration within the insect biorefinery community by using an innovative AI tool.

During this virtual gathering, participants will have the opportunity to meet online:

  • Dr. Susanne Zibek, Group Leader Bioprocess Development at Fraunhofer IGB, who will present the project InBiRa, an ERDF-funded insect biorefinery demonstration plant in Stuttgart-Vaihingen that uses insects to produce high-quality proteins and fats for the chemical industry;
  • Heinrich Katz, CEO of Hermetia GmbH in Baruth, who is one of the leading experts in the field of insect breeding, will present the possible uses of insects in the food and feed sectors, and the status of the legal barriers in Europe.
  • Jon Goriup, CEO VGC.AI, who will present how AI can help various business models, which are key success factors that must be achieved to make the insect biorefineries possible, and hightlight the market insights regarding the current and future opportunities for those interested in working on this topic.
