PrevShort study on the current economic situation of the Danube Region with focus on circular bioeconomy19 December 2022

Project “AIDA-PATH”, development of a concept for an AI-based software for COVID-19 , funded through program “Innovation Express 2021” successfully completed

The first project to be funded under a synchronized call initiated by Priority Area 8 (PA 8) of the EU-Strategy for the Danube Region has now been completed. The Baden-Württemberg-based startup medicalvalues GmbH was able to successfully collaborate with project partners from Austria to conduct research on the Corona pandemic.

The medicalvalues GmbH is primarily developing an AI platform for integrated diagnostics and specializes in supporting the diagnostic decision-making in laboratories and clinics to enable an early and precise diagnosis of various diseases. In the course of the pandemic and within the cooperation project “AIDA-PATH”, medicalvalues and its research partners IDA Lab Salzburg and Centre for Cognitive Neuroscience Salzburg have developed a concept for an AI-based software for COVID-19, which enables an efficient, methodically valid diagnosis as well as the identification of specific disease processes. The results of the project have a high degree of innovation, and at the same time a transfer of knowledge between the partners involved in the fields of AI and digitalization in medicine took place. The research partners from Austria will continue their work on the AIDA-PATH project until 31.10.2024.

PA 8 initiated this “synchronized call”. The idea is to publish different funding programs in several regions or countries at the same time. This allows project partners to apply for funding from different funding programs for a joint project and then work together across countries. The first such call for proposals supported SMEs and research institutions in the fields of artificial intelligence and health.
